Department of Watershed Management to host Outdoor Water Use Efficiency Workshop

March 26, 2008 –  The Department of Watershed Management will host a Water Smart Outdoor Water Use Efficiency Workshop on Friday, March 28, from 8:30 am – 2 pm, at the Piedmont Room, Atlanta Civic Center, 395 Piedmont Avenue. Irrigation customers, landscape professionals, large commercial water users, residential customers and anyone interested in maintaining a beautiful landscape in a drought are invited to attend.

Designed to show attendees how to “maintain their terrain without any rain,” the workshop will offer information on irrigation systems, greenroof design, caring for trees in a drought, sustainable landscapes, turf maintenance, rain barrels and the State’s online certification class.

The workshop is free, and lunch will be provided. Please RSVP to Miltresa McMichael (404-546-1265) or mmcmichael@atlantaga.gov.

“Despite recent rains, all indications are that the drought will continue through summer,” says Commissioner Rob Hunter. “We hope our customers can pick up some tips at this workshop that will enable them to keep their lawns and landscapes beautiful while using the minimum amount of water.”
