Registration is currently underway for the Spring session of classes at Chastain Arts Center. The session begins on Monday, March 23, 2009, and continues for ten weeks, through Friday, May 29, 2009. The Arts Center has added new instructors and several innovative new classes to the existing programs for youth and adults.
Two classes provide students with “safer” options than traditional techniques: a non-toxic printmaking class that will use only water-based media; and, a conte’ class that will give students the look of soft pastel paintings, without the dust. For those whose travel has been curtailed due to the economy, “Create Your Own Travel Journal” will give students a chance to be tourists right here in Atlanta, while learning the skills of keeping an illustrated journal. Another special class will introduce students to the subject of collecting fine art, as well as the proper care and restoration of artworks.
Chastain Arts Center is located in Chastain Park, at 135 W. Wieuca Road, NW, Atlanta. The Center is operated by the City of Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs. For more information about upcoming events or classes, please call the Center at (404) 252-2927, or visit the website www.ocaatlanta.com.
