City of Atlanta Breaks Ground on Metropolitan Parkway Sidewalk Improvement Project

The Department of Public Works and Atlanta City Council Representative Cleta Winslow joined with the community leaders of Neighborhood Planning Unit V, the Adair Park and Pittsburgh communities to commemorate the beginning of the Metropolitan Parkway Sidewalk Improvement Project.

“The Metropolitan Parkway Sidewalk Project is a long-awaited infrastructure improvement project for the Adair Park and Pittsburgh Community residents. This project is like a great Christmas present for these two designated historic district communities“, said Cleta Winslow.

On Saturday December 14, 2009, the City began construction of a sidewalk improvement project along Metropolitan Parkway, from University Avenue to Shelton Avenue, on both sides of the street.  The project is located in Council District 4, Neighborhood Planning Unit- V. The scope of this project includes the installation of new sidewalks, ADA-compliant handicapped ramps, driveway aprons and curbing, and the construction of retaining walls. The approximate cost of the improvement project is $230,000. The project is scheduled for completion within approximately 90 days.
