Aetna Foundation Announces a Major Grant to the Office of Cultural Affairs and the Atlanta Workforce Development Agency for the “Young Americans Exhibit”

WHAT:

The Aetna Foundation will present a $20,000 check to Mayor Shirley Franklin on behalf of the Office of Cultural Affairs and the Atlanta Workforce Development Agency for 500 participants in the Mayor’s Youth Program to visit the High Museum to experience the Young Americans exhibition and an artist talk with Sheila Pree Bright. 

Eighty ARTSCooL apprentices will also participate in an extension of the Young Americans project led by Sheila Pree Bright and will develop statements about how they view America.  The result will be 80 photographs using the American flag as a backdrop for each apprentices’ interpretation of their view of the U.S. Young Americans is a portraiture project exploring the attitudes and opinions of young Americans (18–25 years old) toward their nation and their identity as Americans.
