On Friday July 4th and Sunday July 6th, two events will take place in Buckhead
and Midtown Atlanta which will affect traffic and bring thousands of spectators and participants to the area. The annual Peachtree Road Race will take place on Friday July 4th beginning at 6:00 a.m. and will affect the following streets:
- Peachtree Rd. /St. from Peachtree-Dunwoody Rd. to Peachtree Pl.
- Lenox Rd. from E. Paces Ferry Rd. to Piedmont Avenue.
- Piedmont Avenue from E. Paces to Lenox.
- 14th St. from W. Peachtree St. to Juniper St.
- 10th St. from W. Peachtree St. to Piedmont Avenue.
- Juniper St. / Courtland St. from 11th St. to Pine St.
In preparation for the Peachtree Rd. Race, the following streets will be closed beginning July 2, at 1:00 p.m. and remain closed through July 4th at 3:00 p.m.
- Piedmont between Ralph McGill Blvd and North Avenue
- Juniper St. between Ponce de Leon Avenue and North Avenue.
- North Avenue between Juniper St. and Piedmont Avenue.
In addition, on Sunday July 6, the annual Atlanta Pride Parade and festival will take place in Midtown Atlanta. The parade begins at 1:00 p.m. and will affect the following streets:
- 10th St. from Monroe Dr. to W. Peachtree St.
- Peachtree St. from 14th St. to Baker St.
- Ralph McGill Blvd from W. Peachtree St. to Central Park Pl.
- 14th St. from Peachtree St. to 12th St.
- Piedmont Ave. from Ponce de Leon Ave to 14th St.
- Pine St. exit ramp from Interstate 75/85 Northbound
- All side streets in between the above noted streets
The assembling area for the parade is 10th St. from Monroe Dr. to Myrtle St. and Charles Allen Dr. from 8th St. to 10th St. This area will close at 10:00 a.m. and reopen at approximately 3:00 p.m.
It is strongly recommended that MARTA be utilized. The Atlanta Police will strictly enforce all traffic and parking laws by ticketing and impounding illegally parked vehicles.
