The 21st Annual Dream Jamboree College & Career Fair
"If you can dream it.... you can achieve it"

The Honorable Shirley Franklin invites you to participate in the 21st Annual "Atlanta Dream Jamboree" - a two-day exploration of educational and training opportunities available to high school students designed to prepare them for careers in the new millennium. The Atlanta Dream Jamboree will be held April 23-24, 2003, at the City Hall East Exhibition Center and will be attended by thousands of 10th, 11th and 12th grade students from the Atlanta Public Schools. The Atlanta Dream Jamboree enables students to meet representatives from various colleges and universities across the country and to explore a myriad of potential careers. By students gaining exposure to a variety of opportunities at an early stage in their educational careers, students will be better able to plan their high school curricula around the requirements of the careers or training they prefer.

PUBLIC NIGHT

There is an evening session called Parents/Public Night on April 23, 2003, which is open to all students and parents in the metropolitan Atlanta area. This session is designed to give students and their parents an opportunity for more in-depth discussions with college representatives, as well as attend workshops on financial aid and the HOPE Scholarship allowing undecided seniors to have additional exposure to career options. The evening session is from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Free parking will be available at the City Hall East parking lot on the North Avenue entrance of the building.

WHO IS PARTICIPATING?

Mayor Franklin has extended a nationwide invitation to colleges and universities, junior and community colleges, technical and proprietary institutions, union apprenticeship programs, military educational programs, and corporations. Each registered organization will send a representative to set up an exhibit emphasizing the unique fields of study or career opportunities it provides. The 2003 participant list is attached.
