Financial disclosure Penalties
Penalties The Board of Ethics has adopted the following civil penalties for required filers who do not file their 2008 City Financial Disclosure Statement or file after March 1 without reasonable cause.
- Automatic late filing fines for any official or employee filing after March 1, 2008
- Listing in Roll of Delinquent Filers posted at Board of Ethics’ website
- Recommendation to department head of a day’s suspension without pay
- Recommendation to appointing authority of removal from office of any nonfiling official
- Recommendation that former employees are ineligible for rehiring and former board members are ineligible for appointment for one year

Right to Appeal Any person who is fined, declared delinquent, or receives another penalty for violating the financial disclosure requirements may appeal any penalty by filing a written request for review on a form provided by the Ethics Office. All appeals must be filed within 30 days of the fine or finding of delinquency. The Board of Ethics has adopted new rules to govern the appeals process.
